J.B. Smith is just a dyed-in-the-wool southern outdoorsman, He
started hunting with his father when he was about ten and took his
first deer with a bow. And he looks forward to turkey season rolling
around as well.
J.B. owns 500 acres
“where the work is never done.” He plants 20 acres a year for
wildlife and has also planted 50,000 pines “for the next
generation.” Although he has guided professionally, he has more
often been an unofficial hunting and fishing guide for his friends
and their kids. And according to him, he will continue to do so just
as long as he is able.
This Institute
consultant also enjoys fishing and horseback riding and is an expert
with hammer and nails and old wood, especially barn wood. He has
crafted handsome display units and office dividers for the Institute
staff.
Consulting
with customers is about as natural as breathing for J.B. because he
practices what he preaches. He particularly enjoys teaching new
managers the basics of planting. “There are no dumb questions as
far as I’m concerned,” he says.
