Whitetail Institute

Whitetail Institute perennial forages are designed to last for years from a single planting. All it takes is Mother Nature’s cooperation and a little maintenance each spring. The Whitetail Institute offers three products designed to help control weed and grass competition in Imperial forage stands: Arrest herbicide, Slay herbicide, and Surefire Seed Oil.

Arrest: Arrest is a selective herbicide that controls most kinds of grassy weeds. Arrest can be used in any Whitetail Institute perennial forage stand, and in any other clover or alfalfa. For best results, spray Arrest as soon as possible once the grasses to be controlled are actively growing. This is generally soon after spring green-up. The addition of Surefire Seed Oil to the Arrest spray tank is highly recommended, as it can boost the performance of Arrest. Slay: Slay is a selective herbicide that controls many kinds of broadleaf-type weeds in established stands of Imperial Whitetail Clover, and in established stands of any other clover or alfalfa. “Established” means that Slay should not be sprayed on new plots until all the clovers are older than seedling stage. The addition of an adjuvant such as Surefire Seed Oil must be mixed into the Slay spray tank for Slay to work. Surefire Seed Oil: Surefire Seed Oil is a high-quality adjuvant specifically designed for food plotters. Surefire is highly recommended for addition to the Arrest spray tank, as it can boost the performance of Arrest especially when the grasses to be controlled are mature or perennial. Slay requires that a surfactant or oil be mixed into the Slay spray tank for Slay to work. Surefire is vegetable based, not petroleum based oil, and it even contains an anti-foaming agent to help users correctly mix the spray solution.
