WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

ARREST™ HERBICIDE

The Whitetail Institute has thoroughly tested Arrest in every part of the country and our customers have enjoyed great results in controlling grass competition in existing fields of  Imperial Clover, Extreme, Alfa-Rack and other legumes.

Grass competition in food plots can be a concern to anyone who has perennial plantings. In many cases perennials compete well with grasses, but in some areas more difficult grasses are found and effectively controlling them can extend the life of your planting.

If left alone, grasses can compete with plots for moisture, nutrition and root space. If they are minimized you can see better production from your fields and extended years of hunting before replanting is necessary.

Arrest controls most annual and perennial grasses and will not affect broadleaf plants like clovers, alfalfas and chicory when used correctly.

Arrest can be used any time of the year when high temperatures are above 60 degrees. Better long term control occurs when the grass is sprayed before it seeds, usually in spring or early summer. In most cases, grasses will stop growing within 48 hours and take 15-30 days before the application can take full effect.

As with all herbicides, use exactly as directed on the label. The Whitetail Institute does not manufacture this herbicide and assumes no responsibility for its misuse. Follow label directions closely.

Use Arrest when the plants are dry (mid-day) and no rain is expected for at least 2-4 hours.

Arrest, by the manufacturer’s instructions, is designed to be used without a crop oil or surfactant. In Institute testing we found Arrest to be even more effective when a crop oil concentrate is added at ¾ to 1 ounce per gallon of spray solution. This addition makes the spray solution stick to the plant more effectively.

Be sure to identify your grasses before selecting a mixture percentage. Some grasses require stronger mixtures than others. Height of the grass can also affect the solution mixture. Treating at shorter heights can be more effective and uses less product.

If you are applying Arrest around ponds leave a buffer area of at least 10 feet between the sprayed area and waters edge.

Should you have competing plants other than grasses you may want to consider Slay herbicide as a solution.  Additional information on Arrest and Slay is available by calling one of our consultants at the Whitetail Institute. (800) 688-3030.
